Mexico Five Star Resorts
I enjoyed some five star luxury living in the Caribbean side of Mexico. We flew in to Cancun via Virgin Atlantic, and I even tried the new flyboarding experience off the beach at Playa Del Carmen.
Whilst on the Yucatan Peninsula, I also visited the Mayan Ruins at Coba, and hired a bicycle then climbed to the top of the 2,000 year old pyramids.
In the Five Star Fairmont Mayakoba, I was treated to a boat ride and kayak trip through the lagoons, where we saw many unique species of wild life and beautiful stunning wild birds.
I had a wonderful Spa experience in the award-winning Spa at Five Star Grand Velas Hotel, and enjoyed their phenomenal Michelin star Chef treats every evening.
They also put on a new excursion to the zipline and kayaking over the lagoons & then swimming in the crystal clear private cenotes, and then one of the most amazing experiences of my life, as we went swimming and crawling through the fresh water underground cenote caves, with Stalactites and Stalagmites only centimetres from our heads and hands… I can’t believe that they allow tourists so close to natural phenomenon that have taken thousands of years to evolve.
Finally, we stayed at the Five Star Luxury Boutique Hotel Escencia, which was originally built for an Italian Duchess & has only recently been bought over. There are only 29 bedrooms, mostly hidden within the gardens of the 50 acres, and the two luxury swimming pools are only a few feet away from the pristine white sandy beach.
I took advantage of the complimentary snorkel equipment & enjoyed some of the most incredible snorkelling sights I’ve ever seen… The Mexican Corals are almost as large as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and with tropical temperatures, the colours and variety of the fish and corals only a few feet from the shore, were breathtaking!!
We were also treated to regular fly-by visit from the wild Black Peilcans… I’ve never seen Black Pelicans before, never mind almost touching them, and being treated to the spectacle of them fishing right in front of us…
